Days of Awe 5774 (2013)

This “photo-ritual” dawned on me while at synogogue on the first night of Rosh Hashanah in 2012. I was reflecting on how during the High Holidays we attempt to awaken awe, with shofar blasts and with ancient melodies. And then I asked myself, “Could I find moments of awe tucked within my busy daily life?”

I challenged myself to capture, each day between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, at least one moment of awe. Some days I actively sought moments of awe, and other days moments of awe just presented themselves as gifts.

Some days moments of awe seem abundant, while other days they seem scarce. Yet we are always surrounded moments of awe. May this exhibit remind us to notice them every day, all year long.
